William V. DeCandido

From the date of his admission to the bar, Bill has worked in his own firm. He was a general practitioner for the first ten years of his career, developing a comprehensive knowledge of a variety areas of law. Bill’s legal services ranged from personal injury litigation to real estate transactions to trust and estate proceedings. He filed the first claim under the Americans with Disability Act in the New York region and brought actions against banking institutions for fraudulent misrepresentation. “Clients' problems often cross into more than one area of law. My early experiences made me a better lawyer, because I knew not only to solve the immediate problem, but also identify and solve the latent ones.”

Bill’s early experiences have helped him to seamlessly transition into in-house counsel and business representation. He has advised clients on formation and structuring of companies, negotiating and drafting investment transactions, shareholder contracts as well as litigating commercial matters in both state and federal court. Bill has served as in-house counsel to a family office owning over 110 buildings in New York City. He has advised local business associations and chambers of commerce and oversaw the some of the most innovative commercial real estate transactions. He has advised business in sectors such as environmental, technology, food and beverage, real estate and construction. “I love representing business of all sizes because they are producing something for others.  Naturally, there are always legal hurdles and it’s my job to provide practical solutions, so they can focus on their core business.”

In addition to advising businesses, Bill also provides extensive estate planning and litigation services. He has handled some of the most complicated estate and guardianship cases in Queens County. He lectures at local churches about estate planning and legacy programs. His objective is to deliver unsurpassed service while making an often uncomfortable and overwhelming issue easier for his clients.
